Teen killed in South Auckland crash named

The teenage driver killed in a crash in South Auckland yesterday was Brandon Rowe, 18.

Mr Rowe was the sole occupant of a white Mazda Familia, and was confirmed dead at the scene, police said.

The police serious crash unit is still investigating the crash on the Alfriston-Ardmore Rd about 8am.

Sergeant Mark Fleming said it appeared Mr Rowe lost control and crashed into a power pole.

"No other vehicles were involved in the crash. However we are interested to hear from anyone who may have seen the Mazda in Clevedon or on the Alfriston-Ardmore Road at any time prior to the crash."

It's believed one or two vehicles stopped at the scene of the crash before police arrived.

"It is important for us to speak with anyone who may have been at the crash scene at any point," Mr Fleming said.
