A 16-year-old boy has died following a motorbike crash in Southland last night.
Balclutha Police Acting Sergeant Blair Corlet said the Owaka youth died when the motorbike he was riding on a farm at Marks Bay in the Chaslands plunged down a steep cliff.
The crash happened at about 7pm last night.
Mr Corlet said the youth received extensive injuries from the fall which is estimated to be about 150 metres.
He was riding with two friends at the time.
