A teenager has died and two people were left injured after a two-car crash near Pahiatua overnight.
The head-on crash happened 5km south of Pahiatua on SH 2 about 11.35pm last night, Sergeant Andy Dow from central police communications said.
A person, 16, died at the scene and two other people were taken to hospital, one in a serious condition and the other with moderate injuries.
Police were informing next-of-kin, Mr Dow said.
The road was closed overnight but had been since reopened.
