A teenager who stabbed a motorcyclist was jailed today because he had no place to serve a home detention sentence.
Stormy Keen, 18, was sentenced in Masterton District Court to 20 months in prison for wounding with intent to injure, along with more minor offences - with Judge Chris Tuohy lamenting he had no address for a home detention sentence.
On July 14, Keen was in Carterton with friends when one of them dared him to use a "clothesline" - a wrestling move - on an approaching motorcyclist.
Keen stepped into the road and stretched his arm out straight. The motorcyclist had swerved and avoided Keen, then stopped to confront him.
Keen threatened to stab the man, and the two began wrestling and ended up on the ground.
