A teenaged prisoner has been sentenced to seven years prison for his part in a violent attack on two Corrections officers in Hawke's Bay Prison.
Mose Vaipapa appeared for sentencing at Napier District Court after pleading guilty to charges of wounding with intent, injuring with intent, arson and intentional damage.
Vaipapa and another inmate set upon two officers in the youth wing with a steel teapot, a jug of boiling water, the leg of a steel table, as well as their own fists, before setting prison property on fire.
Vaipapa was serving a sentence for a serious violent offence at the time of the assault.
