A 14-year-old boy has been taken to Rotorua hospital with serious injuries to his left leg after a high speed motorbike collision.
The Cambridge teen was competing in a motorbike event 20km from Taupo when the incident occurred.
Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter pilot Barry Vincent said the boy was in a "quite a bit of discomfort" when he was being transferred to the hospital.
