A West Coast teenager who head-butted a police car has been sentenced to 140 hours' community work.
Riaz Khan, 17, of Dillmanstown admitted refusing to supply a blood specimen, resisting arrest and intentionally damaging a police car.
Police prosecutor Mark Harris said Kahn was stopped just after midnight on July 17 and when a roadside breath-test was positive, he refused to accompany the officer and struggled with the officers, purposely head-butting the bonnet of the patrol car.
When told he was required to accompany the officers to the police station Khan said "make me".
He told Judge Tony Couch in Greymouth District Court that he had no explanation for his actions.
