Two of four teenage girls involved in a crash during a police pursuit late on Sunday remain in a critical condition in Auckland City Hospital.
The other two teenagers are in a stable condition following the crash into a concrete block wall during a police pursuit.
The girls, two aged 16 and two aged 17, had to be cut from the stolen car after it crashed into the 2m-high wall with such force that the impact shook neighbouring houses on Kepa Rd in Kohimarama.
The Independent Police Conduct Authority is investigating the actions of officers involved in the one-minute pursuit.
The girls were allegedly fighting and knocking over tables at a Mission Bay cafe before police located them in the stolen car and pursued them for one minute before the crash.
