KEY POINTS:
Four teenage girls face aggravated robbery charges after allegedly attacking a woman last night, stealing her car and ramming a police car.
Sergeant Gary McFadyen said the girls, all aged between 15 and 16, attacked a 24-year-old woman in the in Hastings suburb of Flaxmere about 11pm before allegedly taking her car.
Police caught up with the car and the ensuing chase ended nearby in Twyford, when the driver allegedly rammed the police car.
Mr McFadyen said one policeman had cuts to his hand from broken glass after the incident, but officers were otherwise unhurt.
The four girls were arrested and initially charged with aggravated robbery, but more charges were likely to be laid this morning.
"There are still more people to be interviewed and followup investigations will be made today," Mr McFadyen said.
The girls will appear in the Youth Court at Hastings today.
