A 13-year-old girl hit by a car in a Christchurch school carpark this afternoon is doing "remarkably well" following the ordeal, her school principal says.
The Hillview Christian School Year 8 pupil has a broken leg and a deep laceration to her leg, but has escaped nerve damage, principal Steve Frost told the New Zealand Herald tonight.
She will undergo surgery at Christchurch Hospital tonight, Frost said.
Describing the girl as "courageous", he said one of her biggest worries was missing school on Monday.
The girl's parents were also doing okay, as was the man - also a school parent - driving the vehicle which struck the girl at the St Martins school soon after 3pm, Frost said.
