A teenage girl is still shaken after being snatched from her bedroom while at home with her parents and shoved in a car with three men.
The terrified 13-year-old from Taupo managed to escape from her kidnappers about 300m down the road and run screaming for help.
The abduction has stunned Taupo police who have turned to the public for help in catching the offenders.
Detective Rick Bagley said it was only luck that the girl managed to jump out of the car and run away when it slowed down.
The abduction happened on Monday about 9.30pm. The girl was downstairs in her bedroom at her Terence St house while her parents were upstairs. A man, believed to be on his own, went into the house and grabbed the girl without other family members seeing.
