A teenage driver stopped after smashing into three cars was found to be more than seven times over the alcohol limit, Tauranga police say.
The 19-year-old Thames man rear-ended a taxi before colliding with two other cars on Saturday night.
His breath alcohol level was 1084 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath, Senior Sergeant Wayne Mills told the Bay of Plenty Times newspaper.
The legal limit for drivers under the age of 20 is 150mcg
The man was due to appear in Tauranga District Court on Thursday.
