A teenager is dead after an industrial accident in Albany, north of Auckland, today.
Police said the 18-year-old died when a stack of timber fell on him about 7am.
Occupational Safety and Health investigators are investigating.
OSH regional manager John Forrest said it was too soon to say what happened other than the youth had been crushed by a stack of timber.
"Somehow, and we have no idea how, it has toppled and he has been crushed," Mr Forrest said.
He said two safety inspectors had been sent to the site.
No other details were immediately available.
