A 16-year-old boy is dead after a stabbing in Rotorua late last night.
Emergency services were called to an address on Clinkard Avenue shortly after 10pm, where they found the boy in the driveway. He died at the scene despite resuscitation attempts.
Police had spoken to numerous witnesses overnight and investigations would continue today, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Loper said.
A cordon around the property remained in place and a full scene examination was to take place today.
The boy's body would be taken to Auckland later today for a post mortem examination, Mr Loper said.
