A teenager who allegedly drove at speeds of up to 190km/h while being chased by Rotorua police on Wednesday night appeared in the Rotorua District Court yesterday.
Regin Littlewood, 17, Rotorua, unemployed, has not entered pleas to charges of reckless driving, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified, two charges of failing to stop and a "boy racer" charge.
The court was told he allegedly drove at speeds of up to 190km/h between Rotorua and Reporoa while being pursued by police, who later abandoned the chase.
Judge Greg Hikaka granted him bail on the condition he reported daily to the Rotorua police station. He has been remanded to reappear on March 17.
Another Rotorua teenager, who was allegedly a passenger in the car, Mark Anthony Watson, 17, unemployed, also appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to a charge of unlawfully taking a motor vehicle. He was granted bail and remanded to a status hearing on April 27.
