A teenager has been arrested for a Levin assault that left a 27-year-old man with life-threatening head injuries.
Police said Wellington Hospital alerted them to the assault on November 23 after the victim was transferred from Palmerston North Hospital in a critical condition with head injuries.
Police said the man was assaulted by a stranger about 1.30pm on November 21 as he travelled through Levin with friends after attending a concert in Wellington.
No weapons are thought to have been used in the attack.
The injured man was taken to Palmerston North and hospitalised where the extent of his injuries became clear.
A 17-year-old man from Levin has been charged with assault and has been bailed to appear in Levin District Court tomorrow.
Police said more serious charges could be laid.
