A teenager has been arrested over a fire at a karate club in Invercargill.
The Goju Ryu Karate Club on Layard St went up in flames about 3.30pm yesterday, causing a moderate amount of damage to the northeast corner of the building, police said.
Last night, officers arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the blaze.
The youth has been charged with arson, and has been referred to the Invercargill Youth Aid Section.
Further inquiries into the fire were continuing, police said. They have urged anyone with information, or who witnessed the blaze, to contact Senior Constable Jordan Edwards on 03 211 0400 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
