An 18-year-old has appeared in court in connection with the stabbing of two tourists in Taupo last night.
Jason Jordan McKenzie faces two charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The police opposed bail and he was remanded in custody to appear before Rotorua District Court next week.
Both tourists were airlifted to Rotorua Hospital. The first, a 42-year-old, has been discharged and the second, a 24-year-old, was this afternoon in a stable condition.
