A teenager on a restricted licence was clocked doing 200km/h on Auckland's Northern Motorway shortly after midnight, police say.
The Auckland Motorway Patrol Unit was left speechless when a BMW car passed by their stationary car at 12.40am, allegedly travelling at 200km/h.
The 19-year-old male driver was totally oblivious to the police presence until he was stopped at Fanshawe Street, on the city side of the Harbour Bridge.
He was charged with driving at a dangerous speed, which carries a penalty of up to three months in prison, six months' disqualification from driving or a fine of up to $4500.
