Teen admits killing bird in microwave

A teenager who microwaved a pet bird to death has been remanded for sentencing.

Ashley Daldy, 18, admitted cruelty to an animal, wilful damage and four counts of burglary when he appeared in the Hamilton District Court yesterday.

He was remanded on bail for a restorative justice conference, and will reappear in court for sentencing on April 3.
