KEY POINTS:
Police have arrested a 17-year-old after a younger boy was beaten and left for dead on a Lower Hutt train platform.
Two year nine girls from a Lower Hutt college have been suspended for their part in the attack, which is believed to have involved luring the 15-year-old victim to Naenae station last Monday.
Their fate will be determined at a school board disciplinary committee meeting today.
Police told the Dominion Post the 17-year-old was arrested on Friday after he arrived at Lower Hutt police station with his lawyer. He will appear in court this week.
The victim's father said last week his son was kicked, punched and stomped on, then "left for dead" unconscious in a pool of blood centimetres from the platform edge.
He suffered concussion, a gash to his head, two black eyes and severe bruising and grazes to his face, arms, legs and hands in the attack.
He is expected to be off school for two weeks and has had a scan to check for brain injuries.
The boy said he did not know why he was attacked.
