A teenager accused of attacking a Wellington police officer with a glass bottle was on bail at the time facing other charges.
The 18-year-old has appeared in the Wellington District Court this morning, following the attack in the central city yesterday afternoon.
Police allege the teen robbed a man of two cell phones in Manners Mall, and then smashed a glass gin bottle over the head of the officer as he tried to arrest him.
Nick Walker was in court where it was revealed the man was on bail.
"He's appeared on charges from this incident in particular, namely aggravated wounding of a police office and aggravated robbery.
