A fitness instructor who died of a brain aneurism has been farewelled by hundreds at an emotional tangi.
Aroha Moana Anderson, a mother of four, was laid to rest at the Te Rawhiti Marae in the Bay of Islands yesterday.
The otherwise fit 42-year-old collapsed at the Albany Club Physical gym on Monday during a class. It is understood she was not teaching at the time.
Aroha's cousin Huia Pihema said the family was in shock. "It is so surreal but we are trying to be there for her husband, Ian, and her children and siblings and mum," Huia said.
Aroha's death comes just over a week after another fitness instructor, Tom Etuata, 46, was found dead in his Greenlane home after a brain aneurism.
