A large group of supporters turned up in the Hamilton District Court for the appearance of a woman alleged to have murdered a Hamilton man.
The 61-year-old appeared before Judge Noel Cocurullo on a charge of murder of a 55-year-old after an incident in the city suburb of Claudelands on Saturday night.
More than a dozen family and friends were also in the public gallery, including a relative who yelled out "Love you, Mum", while another was seen to break down and cry as the woman was led into the dock.
Appearing on her behalf, lawyer Kerry Burroughs said he wouldn't apply for a bail application yet as she needed to have a psychological report prepared.
He also successfully applied for name suppression which wasn't opposed by police.
