A senior teaching fellow at the University of Otago has been fined $5000 for importing child pornography, and refused final name suppression.
Kenneth William Turner, 57, earlier pleaded guilty to 35 pornography charges, seven of importing prohibited electronic publications and 28 of possessing objectionable publications.
In the Dunedin District Court yesterday, Judge Mary O'Dwyer refused a request by counsel Garth Cameron for the suppression order to be made permanent.
Turner was also ordered to pay court costs of $130 and solicitor's fees of $300.
