Six teachers at an Auckland school have been caught with "inappropriate" emails on their school computers.
It is not known which teachers at Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate in Otara were involved, the Sunday Star-Times reported today.
School commissioner Gail Thomson refused to give details, saying only that the emails had images and text "inappropriate for a school".
Five of the teachers were found out last year during a routine check of the school computer system, while the sixth was caught this year during an audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Ms Thomson said five of the teachers were still working at the school, but were on final warnings and would be fired if they reoffended.
One teacher who had reoffended had resigned and the "appropriate authorities" were informed.
The Star-Times said the incidents emerged last week when the newspaper received an anonymous letter from people who said they could not reveal their identity for fear of dismissal.
They accused the Education Ministry and the Education Review Office of a cover-up.
