A teacher who lay on top of a pupil and exposed his genitals to his class has been struck off the teachers' register.
In the latest decision to be published on the Teachers Council website, the teacher was refused a renewed teaching certificate after concerns about his conduct.
In its decision, the council said the school, which cannot be named, complained about incidents of inappropriate touching and holding of students, inappropriate language and sexual discussions with pupils.
A pupil complained that the teacher pulled her between his legs, jumped on her and tried to kiss her, touched her bottom and exposed his genitals.
It was also alleged that he lay on top of a pupil "when there was no proper reason to do so" and that he slept in class and beside the school swimming pool while pupils were in it.
The teacher had said he had known the pupils since they were very young and they were like his children.
The council found he had lacked judgment and wisdom about appropriate conduct and failed to create a safe teaching environment.
