KEY POINTS:
A female teacher at an exclusive Christchurch school has resigned after an "inappropriate relationship" with a student.
Christ's College principal Simon Leese yesterday confirmed the teacher had resigned after disclosing her relationship with an 18-year-old student.
Mr Leese told The Press newspaper the student's family was aware of the circumstances.
"A female junior member of staff disclosed a recent inappropriate relationship with an 18-year-old student and has resigned from the college staff," he said in a statement.
"The college values the former staff member's awareness that this was (a) serious breach of professional behaviour, and her open disclosure. She was a highly valued staff member."
It is understood that the teacher who had been at the school for two years had left Christchurch.
