A former North Canterbury teacher convicted of 24 child pornography charges has been deregistered.
Malcolm Albert Spark, of Kaiapoi, was sentenced to 2-1/2 years' jail in March last year after being found guilty of creating and possessing child pornography.
His teacher registration has now been cancelled by the Teachers Council Disciplinary Tribunal, The Press reported today.
Spark, who stood for ACT in the 1999 general election, was thought to have been paroled in April.
