A teacher facing 19 sex charges has been granted bail until a depositions hearing on December 18.
Eighteen new charges were laid against the teacher in the North Shore District Court on Thursday. He now faces 17 counts of indecent assault, one of sexual violation and one of attempted sexual violation.
The alleged offences relate to six boys aged between 13 and 15.
Bail conditions set by Judge David Robinson include a curfew and an order that the accused has no contact with the school, its teachers or pupils.
In setting bail, Judge Robinson said the question of the accused being a risk to public safety through being HIV-positive was not relevant.
He said he had to consider whether the teacher would offend while on bail.
The man's name was suppressed until a separate hearing on November 29.
