Teacher cleared of child abuse charges

A Horowhenua teacher charged with the indecent assault of four former students has been found not guilty on all four charges.

A jury at the Palmerston North District Court delivered its verdict this afternoon.

Supporters of Michael Neville erupted into cheers in the courtroom when the verdict was delivered.

The jury began considering its verdict yesterday.

It saw a re-run this morning of video evidence of one of the complainants and heard the transcript of the girl's cross examination as well.

The girl's account was central to the Crown's case.
