Police are appealing to the public for sightings of a man seen on the morning of an attack on a 15-year-old girl in Paengaroa in the Bay of Plenty.
The man, described being of Indian descent, tall, with a skinny build and short hair, was seen leaving Gulliver Rd on foot about the time the victim caught the school bus at 7.30am on Tuesday, before heading towards Te Puke township on SH2 and started hitch-hiking, said police.
The girl was attacked later that day in Gulliver Rd while on her way home.
Police would also like to hear from anyone who gave a lift to a man matching the description who was hitch-hiking out of Te Puke that day. Anyone with information should contact Te Puke police on 07 573 9147 or can anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The victim is doing well and has returned to school today.
