The death of a man who died on a Te Awamutu footpath last night is being treated as a homicide.
The man, understood to be a local, died after an incident about 6.45pm on Sunday night outside a North St property.
Police are continuing the investigation into his death and forensic teams have been at the scene today. Police are likely to remain there for the next few days.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out in Auckland tomorrow, which will help to determine how he died.
Last night a section of North St, between Alexandra and Leith streets, was cordoned off.
