A taxi has smashed into a south Auckland driveway after being hit by a car travelling on the wrong side of the road.
The Holden taxi careered through a wrought iron fence and into a number of cars parked in the driveway of the home on Wylie Street in Papatoetoe at around 5am today.
The driver was injured in the collision and has been taken to hospital.
The second car, which is thought to have been the vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, sped away from the scene in the direction of St George's Road, police said.
A nearby resident, who was woken by the crash, called emergency services.
