The man who murdered Auckland taxi driver Hiren Mohini may have fled the country, police say.
Hiren, 39, died in Mt Eden almost two weeks ago after he was repeatedly stabbed in his cab by a passenger he picked up in the CBD.
Police have released an image of a man of Asian appearance they believe may be involved.
Investigation head Detective Senior Sergeant Hywel Jones said it was possible the man had gone.
Police have also included CCTV footage in a 90-second video clip.
The clip shows a man carrying what appears to be a bag later found with blood on it near where Hiren died.
The man can be seen walking through the city from Queen St to Federal St, where he gets into his cab.
The footage featured on the TV show Police Ten 7 on Thursday night, when Jones revealed details of a man seen in the area shortly after Hiren's death.
He was seen running along View Rd towards Esplanade Rd, and soon after a man was reported standing on a carport.
"The person on the carport was bare from the waist up so it's possible he had discarded whatever top he was wearing," said Jones.
"If anyone has found clothing they're not familiar with or is missing clothing or laundry from clothes lines, we need to hear from them."
