KEY POINTS:
The second of two Wellington taxi drivers accused of raping a drunk female passenger in separate incidents on the same night has had the charges against him dismissed five months after the first was found not guilty.
The second driver, whose details are suppressed, appeared for trial in the High Court at Wellington yesterday but the prosecution offered no evidence and the judge discharged him.
In October the first driver, Hicham Awad Riyad, 21 at the time of the alleged incident in April 2005, was acquitted but details were suppressed until now.
Prosecutors yesterday said the woman had not wanted to give evidence a second time.
She had alleged that after a night out drinking she got into a taxi and was raped.
After being dropped off, she said she had got into another taxi and was again raped.
