A taxi driver sought by police investigating the fatal stabbing of a 27-year-old man has come forward.
The driver picked up 27-year-old Nathan Albert shortly before he was killed on Pilkington Rd, Panmure, shortly after 4am last Tuesday.
Police said the driver contacted police last evening after seeing a media report and has provided details which will assist the homicide investigation.
A 38-year-old Panmure man handed himself in to police last and appeared in Auckland District Court charged with Crimes Act Assault.
Police would still like to hear from anyone who was in the Panmure or Mt Wellington area and who may have seen a man wearing a light-coloured top and dark shorts, running from the Panmure area towards Sylvia Park around 4.15-5.30am on January 1.
