A taxi driver has spent the night in hospital after being attacked by a passenger in Dunedin.
The driver picked up a man and woman at a taxi rank in the city last night, and drove them south to Moana Rua Road.
Police say the man got out of the taxi, and the woman punched the driver twice in the head, injuring his face.
They say she then took a wad of cash and ran away.
The woman is described as Maori, aged in her late teens or twenties, small to medium height, with dark hair in a ponytail.
