The New Zealand Transport Agency has revoked the operating licence of an Auckland taxi company after an investigation found it had committed "significant" breaches of commercial transport law.
NZTA spokesman Andy Thackwray said AA Yellow Cabs failed to maintain a register of drivers and cabs, did not ensure its drivers adhered to published work rosters and driving times, and allowed one driver to operate a taxi without a licence.
The company also failed to inform the NZTA after a serious complaint was lodged against one of its drivers.
AA Yellow Cabs had "ample opportunity" to address these issues, Mr Thackwray said.
"These are serious breaches of regulations which are intended to protect the public," he said.
"This company has demonstrated an ongoing inability to operate in a safe and acceptable manner on numerous fronts."
Mr Thackwray has asked members of the public to contact the NZTA if they see AA Yellow Cabs operating.
The licence cannot be reinstated once revoked.
