A Carterton man who pleaded guilty to eight tax-evasion charges has been ordered to pay back the hundreds of dollars he owes.
David John Woodcock, 59, who runs a one-man outdoor recreation business, failed to file income tax returns in the period between July 2005 and July 2012.
Defence lawyer Jock Blathwayt said Woodcock had since filed the tax returns and apologised for the trouble he had caused.
Judge Tony Walsh gave Woodcock credit for having paid back the majority of tax but said he had to take into account there were numerous charges and still some outstanding tax.
Judge Walsh sentenced him to pay $125 per charge and court costs of $130.
