A 16-year-old flown to Waikato Hospital late this afternoon after an accident in Tauranga is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit today.
The youth, who was a passenger in a car that struck a power pole, earlier suffered a brain injury, the Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance said.
The 1993 Subaru WRX was travelling along Tuthill Street in Gate Pa, a suburb of Tauranga, when the driver lost control.
The driver was taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor injuries.
Inquiries were continuing.
