Due to poor weather the New Year's Eve event planned for the Mount Maunganui Main Beach is cancelled, police say.
Fireworks will still be let off on the Tauranga side of the bridge.
The cancellation is primarily based on safety, police said. High winds and exposed weather will prevent the stages from being safely erected.
