Tauranga man crushed by car in own garage

A Tauranga man is in a critical condition in hospital after being crushed by a car.

The 22-year-old was working on his ute in a garage last night when it slid off its jack and collapsed on him, knocking him unconscious. He was still unconscious when fire officers arrived at the scene.

Firefighters used special hydraulic equipment to lift the ute.

Ambulance staff took the man straight to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
