TVNZ has confirmed that Tauranga will be "boldly" featured in the nightly weather reports, in recognition of its status as a growing city. It will get its own 'hover,' which is the aerial graphic of the main centres.
TVNZ news editor Paul Patrick says Tauranga has overtaken Dunedin as the country's 5th largest city and this has provided a good chance to introduce the Bay of Plenty city into the nightly presentation.
He adds that the folk of Dunedin should have no fear as their graphics will remain.
