Taumarunui crash victim named

Police have released the name of the man killed in a head-on crash near Ongarue, north of Taumarunui, yesterday afternoon.

He was William Paul, 37, of Taumarunui, who died when the car he was the front-seat passenger in collided with a van just before 3pm yesterday.

Police say the driver of the car, who was flown by the Westpac Waikato air ambulance to Waikato Hospital, is in a serious but stable condition.

The van's driver has been released from hospital.
