A Pirinoa man who was tasered after smashing into the back of another car on Lake Ferry Rd has been convicted of drink-driving and careless driving.
In Masterton District Court recently Wiremu Boyce, 22, pleaded guilty to losing control of his ute, which rear-ended the another person's car, and to having a blood-alcohol reading of 129 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood.
Boyce, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered head injuries in the crash and had to be tasered by police after wandering away from the scene and becoming aggressive with people who tried to assist him.
He was then transported to Wellington Hospital by the Life Flight Westpac Rescue helicopter.
Boyce's lawyer, James Elliott, said his client could remember playing rugby on March 21 but had no memory of the crash, which happened around 6pm that day.
