A man was shot with a Taser gun after allegedly stabbing a taxi driver in the neck with a screwdriver, stealing his car and leading police on a chase across road and railtracks.
The man allegedly attacked the taxi driver and stole his vehicle just after 4.30pm yesterday.
Police found it in Mt Albert about 10 minutes later and a high-speed pursuit began.
The taxi was driven along railway lines near Asquith Ave then onto the road, where it was driven over spikes and into a police patrol and another car on Carrington Rd.
A police spokesman said the man resisted being arrested by two officers, and was shot with a Taser electric stun gun.
The taxi driver was taken to hospital with neck injuries.
A man was to appear in the Auckland District Court this morning on related charges.
