A leading Taranaki rugby player has pleaded guilty to two charges of injuring with intent.
Shayne Austin, 30, of Stratford, whose name was listed as Hohua Shayne Erik Austin on court documents, admitted the charges when he appeared in Hawera District Court yesterday.
Austin's co-offender, Tony Willis, 27, engineer, of Stratford, also admitted two charges of injuring with intent.
The Taranaki Daily News reported the defendants were arrested after an incident on Broadway, Stratford, in the early hours of February 22.
The pair were convicted and remanded on bail for sentencing on May 25.
