Taranaki man dies in head-on crash

Police are still advising next of kin about the death of man in a head-on crash near Rotorua yesterday.

A 55-year-old man from Taranaki, who was driving one car, died in the crash on State Highway 5 near Reporoa, 30km southeast of Rotorua about 9.15pm.

His name was not likely to be released until tomorrow, Senior Sergeant Ed Van Den Broek said today.

The other driver was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

Two other cars also crashed into the accident scene, but no one else was seriously injured.
