KEY POINTS:
Part of State Highway 7 on the west coast of the South Island is closed after a tanker containing 40,000 litres of bitumen caught fire at Mawheraiti, south of Reefton.
Sergeant Jeffrey Meldau said there were no local diversions available and the road was expected to be closed for about two hours.
